Nalgonda: Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced that the new government medical college building in Nalgonda will be completed by the end of August. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will inaugurate the college.
On Friday, the Minister and District Collector C Narayana Reddy inspected the ongoing construction work near SLBC Colony, close to the district headquarters.
The Minister stated that the construction would be finished by the end of August, making the college accessible to students. Currently, students and professors face severe difficulties at the temporary government medical college at the general hospital. To address this, construction was sped up over the past six months.
He noted that Nalgonda Government Hospital receives a high number of patients, second only to Osmania, Gandhi, and Kakatiya hospitals. He said that the new medical college would greatly benefit students.
The Minister mentioned that 95% of the construction work is complete, and the girls’ hostel will be ready by September.
He instructed engineering officials and the contractor to ensure the quality of the work. He added that they aim to make Nalgonda Government Medical College the best in the state.
The Minister revealed that poor people often fall into debt by going to private hospitals, so the government increased the Arogyasri limit from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. Arogyasri will also be implemented at the Nalgonda Government Medical College’s attached hospital.
He announced that two AC buses will be arranged for staff transportation. Additionally, all necessary facilities, including drinking water, civil works, and electricity, will be provided. He also revealed that Rs 20 crore has been sanctioned for a nursing college on the same campus.
