Chief Minister Revanth Reddy Urges Engineers to Draw Inspiration from Visionaries

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy encouraged newly-appointed engineers to take inspiration from great engineers like Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, known for his impressive engineering feats. He made these remarks during an event at Shilpakala Vedika in Hyderabad on Sunday, where he handed over appointment letters to the newly recruited engineers.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of hard work in completing key projects like the Musi Riverfront Project, the Regional Ring Road (RRR), and the construction of the new city. He stated that these projects will shape the future of Hyderabad, and those involved should take pride in being the architects of the new city.

Revanth Reddy also addressed criticisms from the Opposition regarding the demolition of structures in the Musi Riverfront area. He urged the engineers to remain focused and not be swayed by political opposition. He pointed out that their inspiration should come from engineers who built major dams like Nagarjuna Sagar and Srisailam, not from projects like Kaleshwaram, which he claimed was of poor quality and had developed major cracks.

The Chief Minister also criticized political leaders like KTR, Harish Rao, and Eatala Rajender for making statements against the Musi Riverfront Project. He suggested they spend time in the polluted area to better understand the living conditions of people there. He dismissed their claims about bulldozers and reassured the public that the government had limited resources after inheriting empty coffers.

Revanth Reddy stressed that the government is doing its best to rehabilitate those displaced by the project. He acknowledged the pain of those who have to leave their homes but assured them that the government is working to ensure they live dignified and comfortable lives. He also called on the Opposition to rise above politics and support the government in securing more funds from the central government.

The Chief Minister criticized wealthy individuals who live in luxury while ignoring the plight of the people living along the polluted Musi River. He questioned why Hyderabad’s Musi River couldn’t have a riverfront like rivers in the US, UK, or even the Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad.

Revanth mentioned that large numbers of people were displaced during the construction of the Sabarmati Riverfront and irrigation projects in Telangana, but unlike past governments, his administration is ensuring proper rehabilitation before relocating affected people. He claimed that many people did not receive compensation under previous regimes, but his government is committed to doing things differently.

In addition to the 1,635 engineers receiving appointment letters on Sunday, the Chief Minister announced that 11,000 teachers would also be given appointment letters on October 9.
