Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has ordered officials to quickly start issuing new ration cards across the state. He stressed the importance of speeding up the review process for applications submitted through different channels, including public administration requests, caste enumeration, village meetings, and Mee Seva centers.
Despite giving people multiple chances to apply, the Chief Minister noticed that Mee Seva centers were still crowded with applicants. Officials explained that many families were submitting multiple applications, causing delays. To solve this problem, the Chief Minister instructed authorities to ensure that new ration cards are issued without any delay.
He also emphasized that all eligible families should receive their ration cards. However, he advised officials to spread awareness so that families do not reapply unnecessarily after already submitting their requests.
The Chief Minister further stated that in districts where the election code of conduct is not in effect, new ration cards should be issued first. Once the election restrictions are lifted, the cards should be distributed in all other districts as well.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed several design options for the new ration cards, which were prepared by the Department of Civil Supplies.
The meeting was attended by Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Chief Minister’s Advisor V. Narendra Reddy, Government Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, and other senior officials from the concerned department.
