Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have qualified for the IPL 2023 final for a record 10th time. They beat Gujarat Titans by 15 runs in Qualifier 1 on Tuesday. CSK will play the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.
Batting first, CSK scored 172 runs, thanks to Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 44-ball 60, Devon Conway’s 40, and Ravindra Jadeja’s unbeaten 16-ball 22. Their bowlers then all-out Gujarat Titans for 157 runs. Deepak Chahar, Maheesh Theekshana, Ravindra Jadeja, and Matheesha Pathirana took two wickets each.
This was MS Dhoni’s 14th season as captain of CSK in the IPL. In only four seasons, he has failed to take his side to the grand finale. As rumours suggest, this might be Dhoni’s final season in the IPL. Chennai will surely give everything to treat the great man with a fitting farewell.
Gujarat Titans will now play Qualifier 2, where they will face either Lucknow Super Giants or Mumbai Indians.
