The Andhra Pradesh government has confiscated a guest house belonging to Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu. It is located on the banks of the Krishna river near Vijayawada. The government has attached the property because Naidu allegedly misused his position while he was serving as Chief Minister. According to the CID, Naidu and former Municipal Administration Minister P Naryana had misused their authority. They supposedly changed the alignment of Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) master plan and inner ring road, which allowed them to take possession of the guest house of Lingamaneni Ramesh.
The CID claimed that Naidu and Narayana flouted all laws and guidelines of the Central Vigilance Commission on this matter. They also secured assets with Lingamaneni Ramesh as his benami and changed the alignment of the inner ring road to benefit him. Similarly, they changed the master plan to improve the value of his assets, causing losses for the farmers.
Besides the guest house, the CID also attached Narayana’s relatives’ properties to an extent of 75,880 square feet and their money in bank accounts. The home department issued the attachment orders after informing the local ACB court. The TDP accused the YSRCP government of acting with political vendetta towards the leader of the Opposition.
In 2019, after coming to power, the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government demolished Praja Vedika, a government structure built as an extension to Naidu’s residence on the banks of Krishna river, citing violation of norms.
