AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of disrespecting the sacredness of Tirumala during its five years in power.
Speaking from his residence in Undavalli, Naidu criticized the ruling YSRCP for ignoring important rules that govern the administration of the Tirumala temple. He claimed that the holy site had been turned into a political center for the benefit of certain individuals.
Naidu further alleged that appointments to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board were made without following proper procedures, with unqualified people being given positions. He also expressed concern about the use of adulterated ghee in the preparation of the famous Tirumala laddus, saying this hurt the feelings of devotees. He warned that those responsible for damaging the temple’s sanctity would face consequences.
The Chief Minister emphasized that no past government had dared to harm the purity of Tirumala, but the YSRCP had done so. He assured the public that his party is working to fix the mistakes made by the current government and restore order. He also accused YSRCP leaders of engaging in wrongdoings and launching counter-attacks to avoid accountability.
Naidu concluded by saying that his party had started a process of “cleansing” at Tirumala once they took power, with a focus on making sure the sacred chants of “Govinda” echoed throughout the temple.
