    Chairman of Telangana State Library Council Speaks at Balachelimi Libraries Workshop

    A workshop on managing the Children’s Educational Academy in Hyderabad, specifically focusing on BALACHELIMI Libraries, was held on September 29, 2024. The event took place at Oxford Grammar School’s seminar hall and was led by Mr. Manikonda Vedakumar, who is the Editor of DeccanLand newspapers and chairman of the Children’s Educational Academy.

    During the workshop, Mr. Vedakumar spoke about the goals and activities of the Children’s Educational Academy. He shared that they have successfully set up Balachelimi Libraries in 15 districts through creative programs and aim to establish 100 libraries in total.

    Dr. Riyaz, Chairman of the Telangana State Library Council, was the chief guest at the event. He shared his vision of promoting Telangana’s cultural consciousness through the libraries. He praised Mr. Vedakumar for his leadership, stating that he represents an entire movement, not just himself. Dr. Riyaz also announced that there would be a “Balachelimi Warriors” meeting during Library Week in October. He suggested holding Balachelimi meetings at the upcoming book exhibition and promised to bring the importance of these libraries to the attention of the Chief Minister.

    Other notable speakers at the event included Dr. B. Venkateshwarlu, Librarian of Siddipet Degree College; Dr. Chekoni Ravi Kumar, Assistant Professor at Government City College; Dr. Amaravadi Neeraja, a writer; and Mallikarjun Rao, Director of Maha Academy. Representatives from Balachelimi Libraries, along with children’s authors and teachers, also participated in the workshop.

    The organizers of the Balachelimi Libraries shared their experiences, and Mr. Garipalli Ashok Kumar, the State Convener of Balachelimi Libraries, hosted the event. Qhyzer Basha concluded the workshop by giving a vote of thanks.
