    CFRD-OU concludes 3-day workshop focusing on research-based pedagogy

    A three-day research pedagogical workshop was held at Osmania University in Hyderabad. The workshop focused on research-based teaching methods for life science teachers. Dr. P Swathi, the chairperson of the Board of Studies in the Department of Psychology at OU, emphasized the importance of emotional intelligence and empathy in teaching strategies.

    During the closing session, Dr. K Rajender Rao, a scientist from ICMR-NIN, shared his experiences from his school days and how practical approaches to learning helped him in his research career. He highlighted the significance of such workshops for teachers and praised the organizers for their initiative.

    Prof. B Veeraiah, the principal of UCS-OU, spoke about the dedication required for research-based teaching and how it can inspire students to pursue careers in science. He also explained the various career opportunities available in the field.

    Prof. Sandeep Burgula, the convener and director of CFRD-OU, outlined the objectives of the workshop, which included classroom activities, role-play games, practical model-based learning methods, augmented reality-based learning tools, motivational lectures, and discussions on psychological aspects of teaching.

    Dr. Hameeda Bee, the coordinator of the workshop and chairperson of the Department of Microbiology at OU, stressed the importance of such workshops for all teachers, not just those teaching science. She encouraged teachers to strive for excellence in their classroom teaching strategies.

    K V Pradeep, a motivational speaker and actor, spoke about the need to adapt teaching methods to suit the preferences of present-day students. The event saw participation from faculty members across colleges in Telangana.
