Chief Minister Revanth Reddy Pushes for New Airports in Telangana

Revanth Reddy highlighted the state’s efforts, including obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from GMR, which is crucial since the distance between two airports needs to be at least 150 kilometers. He urged the Centre to approve the state government’s proposal to establish an airport in Warangal. Additionally, he informed the Union Minister that the state government had already provided Rs. 205 crore to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for land acquisition.

The Chief Minister also discussed the situation in Bhadradri Kothagudem, stating that the previously identified land was unsuitable for an airport. As an alternative, 950 acres of land in Paloncha have been identified, and he requested that the construction work begin soon. Similarly, he shared that since the AAI did not approve the land in Peddapalli district, the state government has now identified 591.24 acres of land in Antargam for the project.

Regarding Adilabad, Revanth informed the Minister that the Indian Air Force (IAF) owns 369.50 acres of land in the area, and an additional 249.82 acres would be needed to enable full-scale airport operations. Responding to these points, Ramamohan Naidu assured that a technical team would soon visit Warangal to expedite the airport construction process. He also stated that the Centre would review the other proposals put forth by the state government.

Appeal to Defence Minister for Gandhi Sarovar Project

In another meeting, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to request the transfer of 222.27 acres of Defence land for the proposed ‘Gandhi Sarovar Project’ at Bapu Ghat, located at the confluence of the Isa and Musi rivers in Hyderabad.

Revanth Reddy explained that the state government aims to develop Bapu Ghat, where Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed, into a major center for promoting Gandhian philosophy. The proposed project will include a knowledge hub, a meditation center, a handloom promotion center, public entertainment spaces, a statue of peace, and a museum. He urged Rajnath Singh to expedite the transfer of the required land to facilitate the development of this significant project.
