Union Ministry of Tourism Plans Grand Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 Celebration
The Union Ministry of Tourism is preparing to make the upcoming Maha Kumbh Mela in 2025 a truly memorable event. This occasion, known for its spiritual significance, is also being promoted as a major global tourism attraction. To achieve this, the ministry has introduced several initiatives aimed at boosting both domestic and international tourism.
The Maha Kumbh Mela, celebrated every 12 years, is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. In 2025, the event, also referred to as ‘Poorna Kumbh,’ will take place in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, from January 13 to February 26. The event holds immense cultural and spiritual importance, drawing millions of devotees and visitors.
To enhance the experience for visitors, the Ministry of Tourism is setting up an ‘Incredible India Pavilion’ spanning 5,000 square feet. This pavilion will cater to foreign tourists, scholars, researchers, photographers, and journalists, offering an immersive experience showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage and the significance of the Kumbh Mela. Visitors will also get to participate in the ‘Dekho Apna Desh – People’s Choice Poll,’ where they can vote for their favorite Indian tourism destinations.
For the convenience of foreign tourists and attendees, a dedicated toll-free Tourist Infoline (1800111363 or 1363) has been launched. This service operates in English, Hindi, 10 international languages, and several Indian vernacular languages like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Assamese, and Marathi. It aims to provide assistance, guidance, and information to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
A major social media campaign has also been initiated to create excitement around Maha Kumbh 2025. Using hashtags like #Mahakumbh2025 and #SpiritualPrayagraj, the ministry is encouraging people to share their experiences and moments from the event. Collaborative efforts with organizations such as ITDC, UP Tourism, and others aim to amplify the event’s visibility through contests and engaging posts.
To accommodate the influx of pilgrims and tourists, the Ministry of Tourism has partnered with key stakeholders, including the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation, IRCTC, and ITDC. ITDC has established 80 luxury accommodation units at Tent City in Prayagraj, while IRCTC is also providing high-quality luxury tents to ensure comfortable stays for visitors.
Additionally, the ministry has collaborated with Alliance Air to improve air connectivity to Prayagraj from multiple cities across India. This partnership will make it more convenient for both domestic and international travelers to attend the event with ease.
To capture the grandeur of the Maha Kumbh, the ministry is undertaking a large-scale photo and video project. These visuals will highlight the spiritual and cultural essence of the event and will be shared across national and international media platforms. This initiative aims to showcase the cultural richness of Prayagraj and promote it as a premier spiritual tourism destination.
The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 promises to be an extraordinary event, blending spirituality and tourism while offering a unique experience to visitors from around the world.
