Hyderabad: A central government team praised the Telangana government for its success in improving the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) in the state. The team, from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), noted that Telangana is making progress in the industry, manufacturing, and services sectors.
The team was led by senior official Sukriti Likhi. They met with Telangana Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari and other top state officials at the Secretariat on Friday. During the meeting, they discussed the state’s efforts to make it easier to start and run businesses.
Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari told the delegation that Telangana is a leader in implementing EoDB policies. She said the state is creating a friendly environment for businesses to grow quickly. She also mentioned that the government is focusing on improving the quality of products and lowering production costs.
Santhi Kumari highlighted several reforms the state has made to help businesses. These include the ‘Build Now’ system for faster building approvals and ‘Bhu Bharathi’ to solve land-related issues. She said these changes have been well-received by business leaders. She added that senior officials regularly monitor the policies to ensure they are working properly. Thanks to these efforts, Hyderabad has become a strong economic center.
However, the Chief Secretary also raised a concern. She said that delays in getting clearances under the Forest and Wildlife Acts are slowing down development projects. She urged the central government to speed up these clearances while still protecting forests and wildlife.
In response, Sukriti Likhi praised the Telangana government for achieving top rankings in EoDB. She said the state’s policies are helping in many areas, such as land availability using GIS technology, removing restrictions on industrial land use, simplifying building permits, and speeding up approvals for utilities and factory licenses.
