    India celebrates the spring harvest season with great enthusiasm and fervour in different parts of the country under different names. Communities like Bihu in Assam, Lohri and Baisakhi in Punjab, Vishu in Kerala, and Puthandu in Tamil Nadu celebrate the harvest season by praying for the fertility of the soil and celebrating the harvest. Thousands of people from the Sikh community celebrated their new year with pomp and grandeur by taking part in the 324th Khalsa Panth Foundation Day Celebrations, popularly known as Baisakhi festival. Tamilians celebrated Puthandu (Tamil new year) by placing fruits, rice, vegetables, gold and silver jewellery, or coins on plates in the pooja room. The Odia community celebrated Pana Sankranti or Maha Vishuba Sankranti by visiting Jagannath Temple in Banjara Hills and offering prayers. The Bihu festival was celebrated for three days with folk dances and traditional Assamese food.
