In Hyderabad, with less than a week left before the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is lifted, there is intense competition for nominated posts. Former legislators, MPs, and even some current MLAs are vying for these coveted positions.

According to party sources, many aspirants gathered at the residence of Vem Narender Reddy, advisor to the Chief Minister, to push for their candidature. However, Reddy emphasized that the proper channel for this process is through the ministers and district in-charges. Some former MLAs and MPs, as well as current MLAs, are seeking these positions. This has caused concern among party members who feel that long-time party workers may be overlooked in favor of those already in power.

The chairpersons of various corporations who were nominated earlier this year will be assuming their roles shortly after the MCC is lifted. Preparations are underway to hand over responsibilities to 37 Congress leaders who have been appointed, along with the five who have already taken on their roles before the Code was implemented.

Individual Government Orders necessary for fulfilling these responsibilities are expected to be issued within a day or two after the MCC is lifted. Those awaiting these orders are eager for the process to move forward.

Once the poll code is lifted, over a dozen corporation and commission chairperson positions are expected to be filled. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will make the final decisions on these appointments, with input from DCC presidents and ministers. The eligibility list has already been submitted to the Chief Minister, taking into account factors such as seniority and socio-political considerations.

Aspirants for these positions include recent defectors from other parties who were promised nominated posts upon joining.
