Canada has approved the use of the TOEFL iBT test for international students who wish to study in Canada’s postsecondary designated learning institutions through the Student Direct Stream program. ETS, the company that administers the test, is pleased with the decision, as it will provide more opportunities for students to study abroad. The TOEFL iBT is now an authorized English-language testing option for the SDS route, giving test takers more choice. Students may begin submitting their TOEFL iBT scores as part of their SDS application from August 10, 2023. Most SDS applications are processed within 20 calendar days, according to the IRCC. This decision is a welcome step for Indian students who aspire to study in Canadian institutions, according to Maria Mathai, Founder of M.M Advisory Services, an overseas education consultancy.
Canada’s Student Direct Stream now accepts TOEFL iBT®.
