A group of teachers in Jagtial submitted a request to MLC Jeevan Reddy for individuals with BEd qualifications to be considered for promotions to PS HM positions in the State. The MLC promised to discuss the issue with the Chief Minister and Education Department officials.
In a recent transfer and promotion schedule released by the Commissioner of School Education, it was clarified that candidates with BEd qualifications are eligible for promotions to LFL HM and PS HM posts. Even those with only Intermediate and DEd qualifications are being considered based on seniority, with no explicit instructions against promoting BEd holders.
Between 2009 and 2015, teachers with both DEd and BEd qualifications were promoted based on seniority. However, recent orders only promote those with DEd qualifications to PS HM positions, causing distress among senior teachers. Teachers returning to primary schools after being promoted to PS HM positions end up working as junior headmasters under senior assistants, leading to mental distress.
