Hyderabad: Cable Operators Told to Remove Hanging Wires from Electrical Poles

The Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGSPDCL) has instructed cable operators to immediately remove hanging wires from electrical poles. These wires are seen as dangerous for both the public and the company’s workers.

Musharraf Faruqui, the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of TGSPDCL, stated that several meetings had already been held with cable operators and internet service providers to address the issue. The company has been urging them to remove the cables that pose a safety risk.

On Monday, the CMD held another meeting with representatives from cable and internet companies. During this meeting, the representatives mentioned that they had already fixed about 50% of the poles on main roads where wires were hanging. They are working quickly to remove the rest and asked for more time to finish the job.

In response, the CMD noted that companies like ACT Fiber, GTPL, Bharat Fiber, and I Net had completed almost all of their assigned work. However, he pointed out that only a few companies were participating in the effort. He warned that if the remaining work is not completed soon, the matter would be escalated to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. Until then, he urged the companies to speed up the removal process.

Representatives from the Telangana Cable Internet Association also attended the meeting. They said that the CMD was satisfied with the progress so far. Around 28 companies in Greater Hyderabad are actively involved in this drive to remove the hazardous wires. The meeting included other officials such as Director Commercial K Ramulu and representatives like Satish Babu and Salam.
