Hyderabad: The head of the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGSPDCL), Musharraf Faruqui, has asked cable operators and Internet Service Providers to remove cables and other materials hanging dangerously from electric poles. These hanging wires are posing risks to pedestrians, vehicle users, and electricity staff in Greater Hyderabad.

During a review meeting at the corporate office with representatives of cable operators, internet service providers, and cable associations, Faruqui explained that the extra load on electric poles from these cables and telecom equipment is causing the poles to bend.

He also pointed out that cables scattered on footpaths are creating inconvenience and danger for the public. A recent feeder survey showed many unused cables hanging from the poles, fully covering them and making it hard for electricity staff to do their work.

Faruqui urged the operators and Internet Service Providers to take necessary steps to remove the hanging lines and to install cables according to the rules. He directed that poles on main roads should be cleared within one week, and poles on other roads should be cleared within two weeks.
