State Cabinet Meeting to Focus on Development Plans

The state cabinet in Hyderabad is set to meet on January 4 and is expected to take major decisions aimed at accelerating the state’s development. Several key initiatives and schemes are likely to be approved during this meeting.

One of the main highlights will be the approval of the Rythu Bharosa scheme. This program is designed to support poor farmers who own up to 10 acres of dry land. However, individuals paying income tax, government employees, and elected representatives will be excluded from benefiting under this scheme. A cabinet sub-committee has already recommended specific guidelines to identify eligible beneficiaries, which will be ratified during the meeting.

The cabinet will also prioritize conducting local body elections in January. To ensure proper representation, the government is likely to approve the formation of a dedicated commission for Backward Classes (BCs). Officials believe that gaining a majority in local bodies is essential for effectively implementing the six guarantees promised by the Congress party before the elections. Discussions are also expected on setting up a committee for Scheduled Caste (SC) categorization.

Additionally, the government may deliberate on several other important matters, such as issuing new white ration cards, conducting a caste census, and unveiling a new tourism policy. A proposal to provide sand, cement, and steel at subsidized rates for the construction of housing under the Indiramma Housing scheme is also on the agenda.

Ministers have been tasked with presenting action plans to resolve pending issues within their respective departments. The cabinet is likely to approve the recently completed caste census and discuss extending financial assistance of Rs 12,000 to each landless laborer. This new scheme is expected to be launched soon.

To fund these developmental initiatives, the state government will explore ways to mobilize financial resources. This may include the sale of valuable land in Hyderabad. These measures aim to fulfill pre-election promises and boost the state’s overall growth, according to sources.
