The state Cabinet will meet on March 6 to discuss important policy decisions. The key topics include the budget session schedule, the Caste Census, SC sub-categorization, issuing new ration cards, and local body elections.

The government plans to hold a special Assembly session on March 7 and 8 to approve the Caste Census and SC sub-categorization. This will help introduce new laws to improve reservations in education, jobs, and local governance for backward communities.

The Planning Department, which is responsible for the Caste Census, has been asked to submit a full report by Friday evening. This report, including the second phase findings, will help register details of any remaining families. The government sees this survey as essential in deciding new reservation policies for Backward Classes (BCs) and wants to pass a law to increase their representation in the upcoming local body elections.

The Cabinet is also expected to approve proportional quotas for Scheduled Castes (SCs) based on sub-caste populations. This follows a recent Supreme Court ruling and a resolution already passed by the government. Additionally, the government plans to distribute one lakh ration cards in a single day. Many people have applied for these cards, and the verification process is currently in progress.

Local body elections will also be a major discussion point, especially regarding reservations. The Cabinet will likely finalize the budget session schedule, aiming to start in the third week of March and finish before the financial year ends on March 31. Other important matters, such as funds for the Rythu Bharosa scheme and updates on the Indiramma housing projects, will also be reviewed.
