The State Government in Hyderabad has decided to accept the interim report on Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla submitted by the NDSA. They will also repair the damaged Medigadda barrage after consulting with technical experts. Additionally, irrigation water will be supplied to farmers from the Kaleshwaram lift scheme using temporary arrangements like building a “Rockfill Dam” during the upcoming kharif season.
During a cabinet meeting on Monday, discussions were held regarding the NDSA interim report and repairing damaged barrages such as Annaram and Sundilla. Central agencies will be consulted for suggestions on the repairs, with two different technical agencies studying each barrage and providing concrete recommendations. Temporary measures like constructing a “Rockfill dam” will be taken to ensure water supply for irrigation in the kharif season.
The cabinet also decided to hold grand celebrations for the state formation day on June 2 and invite former AICC president Sonia Gandhi. Noted Telangana activists will be felicitated, and permission will be sought from the Election Commission due to the ongoing election code. Government schools will receive a facelift with nearly Rs 600 crore allocated for the new academic year, along with launching the ‘Amma Adarsha’ school programs on June 12.
A Cabinet Sub-Committee led by Sridhar Babu will recommend measures to strengthen government schools to match corporate institutions. Farmers cultivating paddy of fine rice will receive a Rs 500 bonus per quintal, with district collectors instructed to procure paddy at MSP with timely payments to farmers. Compensation will also be provided for crops damaged by unseasonal rains, and arrangements will be made to supply fine rice for people and mid-day meal schemes using rice procured from state farmers without imports.
