Telangana Budget 2025-26: Mixed Reactions from Karimnagar Residents
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka presented the Telangana Budget 2025-26 in the Assembly. He stated that the Congress government is committed to serving the people. He emphasized that the budget focuses on both short-term and long-term goals, including improving healthcare, strengthening the education system, and ensuring farmer welfare.
People in the joint Karimnagar district had different opinions on the budget. M. Mallikarjun Reddy, a farmer from Pedda Kurmapalli village in Chottadandi mandal, shared his views with The Hans India. He appreciated the allocation of Rs 18,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, which provides Rs 12,000 per acre to farmers. Additionally, Rs 24,439 crore has been set aside for the entire agriculture sector.
The budget has given a strong push to agriculture, education, rural development, and welfare schemes. The government aims for overall progress by supporting farmers, investing in education, developing rural areas, and funding social welfare programs. Schemes for women’s welfare and housing construction have also been prioritized to promote social justice and equality.
However, not everyone is happy with the budget. Awara Latha from the BC Organization expressed her disappointment. She criticized the Congress government for neglecting women and the elderly. She pointed out that the promised gold coin under Kalyana Lakshmi was missing from the budget. She also noted that no funds were allocated for the Rs 4,000 pension or the Rs 2,500 financial scheme for women.
Latha further stated that the budget failed to mention unemployment benefits and education assurance cards. There was also no announcement regarding the PRC (Pay Revision Commission) for employees. She accused the Congress government of breaking promises and said that many people have lost trust in Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s administration.
On the other hand, students welcomed the budget. Kota Manasa, a PG student at Satavahana University, said the Telangana Budget 2025-26 is beneficial for students. The government has presented a Rs 3,04,965 crore budget, with Rs 23,108 crore allocated to education. This will improve learning opportunities for students across the state.
To further support students, the government is setting up Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Knowledge Centers in 119 constituencies. These centers will provide free coaching for Group-1, Group-2, and other competitive exams. Additionally, Rs 500 crore has been allotted for universities. However, Manasa mentioned that more funds are required for Satavahana University’s new engineering and law courses.
Overall, the budget reflects Telangana’s commitment to quality education, skill development, and job opportunities. While some people appreciate the focus on education and agriculture, others feel that important promises have been left out.
