Hyderabad: Three women leaders from the BRS party strongly criticized Minister Konda Surekha on Wednesday for her comments against KT Rama Rao, the party’s working president. They even suggested that Surekha should wash her face with acid. These leaders were reacting to Surekha’s remarks.
During a press conference, MLC Satyawathi Rathod pointed out that MLA T Harish Rao had already condemned the social media post against the minister. She questioned why women ministers did not speak out when CM Revanth Reddy made comments against women in the Assembly.
Rathod accused the Congress party of trying to distract people from the promises they made. She warned that the BRS would take the matter to court if Surekha continued to make such statements. Additionally, she questioned why Surekha and Seethakka, both ministers, remained silent when women in the state were being attacked, even though the BRS government had supported women by distributing saris during the Bathukamma festival.
Former MP M Kavitha also weighed in, saying that Surekha’s face should be washed with acid. Feeling ashamed as a woman by Surekha’s comments, Kavitha claimed that the CM was making women ministers speak up because of backlash from HYDRA. She warned that if Surekha made any more comments against KTR, they would cut her tongue. Kavitha also called for action against those making social media posts.
Similarly, MLA Sunita Lakshma Reddy condemned Surekha’s inappropriate comments about KTR. She expressed disappointment that, as women, they had previously condemned the trolling of Surekha, but now her comments about women from the film industry were unnecessary and offensive.
Reddy emphasized that it’s painful for one woman to insult another in such a degrading way. She criticized Surekha for linking personal attacks on social media to KTR and questioned how Surekha could forget that they too were women when the CM made comments against them.
