BRS to Celebrate Deeksha Diwas in Honor of KCR’s Telangana Agitation
In Hyderabad, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party is set to commemorate “Deeksha Diwas” on Friday. This day marks the pivotal hunger strike undertaken by BRS supremo K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) during the Telangana agitation, a movement that eventually led to the creation of Telangana state.
The party’s working president, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), has called on party leaders and members to celebrate this significant occasion. Celebrations are planned at district, mandal, and village headquarters to honor the event that shifted the momentum of the Telangana movement.
A meeting was held at the BRS party office in Telangana Bhavan to plan a grand celebration. In Hyderabad, MLA T. Srinivas Yadav and other leaders will visit Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in the morning to distribute fruits and food to patients. Later in the evening, a massive rally will be organized, starting from Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital and ending at Telangana Bhavan.
KTR will participate in the celebrations in Sircilla in the morning and join the evening rally in Hyderabad. Srinivas Yadav described KCR as a leader willing to sacrifice his life for the creation of Telangana. He shared that cultural programs and a specially prepared documentary on KCR’s movement will be showcased at Telangana Bhavan. A meeting will also be held to reflect on the struggle and its achievements.
Party workers from across the state are expected to attend the event, making it a large-scale celebration. Huge flex hoardings of KCR have been set up in front of Telangana Bhavan, giving the venue a festive atmosphere.
