Hyderabad: The BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) leaders are planning a series of public meetings to counter the Congress party. These meetings will take place in locations where the Congress made several declarations during their campaign. The first of these public gatherings will be held in Warangal, where the Congress had introduced the Farmers Declaration.

The Congress party had gained power by announcing various declarations to support different sections of society. These included promises to farmers, youth, backward classes (BCs), and minority communities. Each declaration contained specific initiatives aimed at benefiting these groups. However, BRS leaders are now preparing to challenge the Congress by highlighting the government’s failures in fulfilling these promises.

A senior BRS leader mentioned that the party will focus on raising awareness about the Congress government’s shortcomings in delivering on its promises. For instance, the Congress had promised to waive loans up to Rs 2 lakh for farmers in Warangal as part of the Farmers Declaration. The BRS plans to hold a public meeting in Warangal to expose what they see as the government’s failure to fully implement this promise. According to the BRS leader, less than 50% of farmers benefited from the loan waiver, which he described as a “big joke.”

In addition to the Farmers Declaration, the BRS will also target the government over the Youth Declaration. This declaration included five key promises, one of which was an unemployment allowance of Rs 4,000. However, the BRS claims that after coming into power, the Congress refused to acknowledge making such a promise. The BRS also pointed out that the Congress had announced the recruitment of 30,000 vacancies, but the notifications for these jobs were actually issued by the previous BRS government.

Another significant promise by the Congress involved increasing reservations in local bodies for BCs, based on a caste census. The BRS leaders stated that they will pressure the government to fulfill this promise before the upcoming local body elections. “We will not let the Congress government off the hook until they fulfill their promises to all sections of society,” the BRS leader emphasized.
