BRS Party Plans No-Confidence Motion Against Hyderabad Mayor

Telangana minister and senior BRS leader, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, announced that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party is considering introducing a no-confidence motion against Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi and Deputy Mayor Mothe Srilatha Shoban Reddy. This decision comes as the current body nears the completion of its term.

Srinivas Yadav explained that under the Municipal Act, a no-confidence motion can only be moved after four years of the current body’s term. With nearly a year left before the next elections, the BRS party is looking to move forward with this plan to address issues and challenge the Congress party.

On Thursday, Srinivas Yadav, accompanied by BRS MLAs, MLCs, and corporators, met with GHMC Commissioner K. Ilambarthi. During this meeting, they submitted a memorandum highlighting various public issues and urging progress on development works in Hyderabad. Yadav expressed dissatisfaction with the state of city infrastructure and accused the Congress government of halting key projects, such as flyover construction, after coming to power.

The minister also demanded the issuance of ration cards to all applicants and pointed out that the BRS holds more seats in the GHMC Council than the Congress. He criticized the lack of responses to questions raised by BRS members during council meetings and said that the Congress government has failed to address public concerns effectively.

Yadav highlighted the challenges faced by Hyderabad residents, citing issues like malfunctioning streetlights and poorly maintained roads. He emphasized that although the BRS remained quiet during the Congress government’s first year in office, the party will now push for accountability on public concerns.

Additionally, BRS MLAs and corporators alleged that officials are not responsive to their queries. They claimed that their calls are being ignored or blocked, creating significant communication barriers. The party has vowed to escalate these issues and ensure that public grievances are addressed.
