    Khammam:

BRS leaders in Khammam district held a protest at the agricultural market, urging the State government to support farmers. On Tuesday, the protest was attended by several key figures, including the party’s district president, MLC Tatha Madhusudhan, former MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, former ZP chairman Lingala Kamal Raju, and former market committee chairman Gundala Krishna.

Farmers at the market complained that officials were refusing to buy cotton without even inspecting the material they brought. MLC Madhusudhan asked officials to provide details on how much cotton had been purchased by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) and private dealers.

Later, the BRS leaders met with District Collector Muzammil Khan. They submitted a petition requesting action to resolve the issues faced by the farmers.

In a statement to the media, Madhusudhan explained that cotton growers couldn’t sell their goods at proper prices because CCI officials were not present at the market. As a result, farmers were not receiving the minimum support price for their cotton.

Madhusudhan urged the government to quickly set up a CCI procurement center at the Khammam agricultural market to help farmers. He also called for support to be given to cotton growers across the state who have suffered losses due to cyclones and unexpected rainfall.

Additionally, Madhusudhan suggested that in addition to the Central government’s support price, the government should provide farmers with a bonus of Rs 1000 per quintal for those who have experienced losses.
