Hyderabad: BRS leader R Sridhar Reddy has called for the government to improve the Government College of Physical Education (GCPE) in Domalguda. He suggested that the college should be affiliated with the Sports University proposed by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The GCPE, established in 1958, is the only college in the State that has trained many physical education teachers and coaches.

At a press conference held at Telangana Bhavan, Sridhar Reddy reminded everyone that former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had allocated Rs 20 crore as the first installment for constructing new buildings for the GCPE. He noted that the designs for the buildings were created according to NCTE standards. Additionally, the foundation stone was laid by then-Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy. The previous government also had plans to upgrade the college to a university.
