Union Minister of State for Steel, Faggan Singh Kulaste, announced that the plan to privatize the Visakha Steel Plant (VSP) has been put on hold. This announcement came after Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao exerted pressure on the Centre to withdraw the proposal. The CM’s move to take over the steel plant by the Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) caused concern for the Centre, leading to the Union Minister’s statement during his visit to the plant. KCR will continue to fight against the privatization of public sector undertakings.

During the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr B R Ambedkar, IT Minister KT Rama Rao spoke about the Telangana government’s opposition to the VSP privatization plans, stating that the government has been supporting Dalit entrepreneurs through their ‘Dalit Bandhu’ scheme. The State government aims to promote economic empowerment of Dalits and help them become entrepreneurs. He urged dalit entrepreneurs from Telangana to achieve new heights and hoist the Telangana flag at the national level.
