BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao will kick off his election campaign in Nalgonda, South Telangana on February 13. This will be his first public meeting since recovering from hip replacement surgery. KCR wants to regain support in districts like Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, and Khammam, where the Congress party made significant gains in the previous Assembly elections. One of the major issues they want to highlight is the alleged mishandling of projects on the Krishna and Godavari rivers by the KRMB.

Nalgonda has traditionally been a stronghold for the Congress party, but in the 2018 elections, the BRS won the majority of seats in the district. However, in the recent 2023 elections, Congress managed to win 11 out of 12 seats, with only one seat going to BRS. The BRS chief will emphasize how his party protected the interests of Telangana during its previous rule and how the Congress government’s actions could impact farmers and create a drinking water crisis. They also want to tap into the sentiment of a separate state and the importance of water resources.

KCR has instructed party leaders to mobilize large crowds for the Nalgonda meeting. He also plans to appoint former ministers as in-charges of Lok Sabha segments in Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy, and Khammam, who will be responsible for fundraising for the upcoming elections. Additionally, incharges have been appointed for all 12 Assembly Constituencies in Nalgonda to oversee campaign efforts.
