BRS Files Privilege Motion Over Musi Riverfront Project

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has filed a Privilege Motion against the Congress-led government in Telangana, accusing it of misleading the Legislative Council regarding the Musi Riverfront Rejuvenation project. The motion was submitted on Wednesday.

During the Question Hour on Tuesday, Minister D. Sridhar Babu addressed a query raised by MLCs Shambhipur Raju and Kavitha. He informed the House that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Musi Riverfront project had not yet been prepared. However, MLC Kavitha refuted this statement the following day by presenting documents that contradicted the minister’s claim.

Kavitha revealed that the state government had submitted a proposal to the World Bank, which included a DPR for the project, seeking financial assistance. She questioned why the Congress government was requesting an additional loan of Rs 4,100 crore from the World Bank when the state had already secured loans totaling Rs 1.28 lakh crore.

Speaking at the Assembly media point, Kavitha urged the government to clarify its contradictory statements. She said, “This government must answer why contradictory statements are being made to the Legislature, the Centre, the World Bank, and the people of Telangana. Whose profits are being prioritized over public welfare?”

The BRS leaders demanded transparency and accountability from the Congress government, emphasizing the need to prioritize the interests of the public.
