BRS Protests for Tribal Farmers in Warangal
In Warangal, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party members, led by former chief whip D Vinay Bhaskar, staged a symbolic protest on Tuesday. They submitted a memorandum to the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in Hanumakonda. The protest aimed to urge the government to withdraw cases filed against tribal farmers from Lagacherla, who opposed giving up portions of their land for the proposed Pharma City project.
Vinay Bhaskar criticized the current government, led by Revanth Reddy, accusing it of suppressing democratic rights. He pointed out that tribal farmers have been imprisoned for 35 days, which he described as an example of Congress’s “autocratic rule.” Vinay also alleged that the farmers were subjected to third-degree torture under the orders of Revanth Reddy and his associates.
Highlighting the achievements of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) and the BRS government, Vinay said that they have prioritized farmers’ welfare. He mentioned that Rs 80,000 crore was directly deposited into farmers’ accounts through the Rythu Bandhu financial assistance scheme. Additionally, KCR’s administration ensured 24-hour free electricity for agricultural purposes and improved irrigation facilities, making farming more profitable. Vinay also emphasized that Telangana has become the “Rice Bowl of India,” producing around three crore tonnes of paddy.
On the other hand, Vinay criticized the Congress government for failing to deliver on its election promises. He stated that even half of the promised crop loan waivers have not been implemented. Furthermore, the government is yet to provide Rythu Bharosa payments or a bonus for paddy farmers, he added.
