Hyderabad: BRS senior leader T Harish Rao has condemned the rising crimes against women in Telangana and has called for immediate action from the Congress government. He expressed his concerns during a visit to Gandhi Hospital on Friday.

Harish Rao, along with other leaders such as former ministers Sabita Indra Reddy, Sunitha Laxma Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Malla Reddy, MLA Mutta Gopal, and former chairman Errolla Srinivas, visited a tribal girl from Jainoor who was undergoing treatment after a brutal attack. The girl had been viciously assaulted, and her face was smashed with a stone in the horrific incident.

Speaking to the media, Harish Rao expressed his deep concern over the growing crimes against women under the current Congress government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He described the incident as “barbaric” and noted that this case is just one of many shocking crimes taking place across Telangana.

He also mentioned several other disturbing incidents, including the assault of a Chenchu woman in Nagar Kurnool, attacks on a four-year-old girl in LB Nagar and a six-year-old in Peddapalli, and even violence against law enforcement, such as a police constable in Bhupalpally. According to Harish Rao, these are not isolated incidents but part of a worrying trend of increasing violence in the state. He added that since the Congress government took over, law and order have deteriorated, with 1,900 rape cases registered in just the last nine months.

Harish Rao strongly criticised the Congress government for failing in various areas of governance. “The Chief Minister has failed as a Home Minister, failed to ensure women’s safety, failed to maintain law and order, and failed to protect the people of Telangana,” he said. He emphasized that the current government has failed in every crucial aspect of governance.

The BRS party is demanding swift action and has called for Rs 10 lakh as ex-gratia payment to be given to the victim’s family as immediate relief.
