Hyderabad: The issue of merging seven mandals of Telangana with Andhra Pradesh has resurfaced after comments made by AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He mentioned how he had insisted on including the seven mandals in AP, prompting the BRS party to target both him and Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

During a meeting of NDA MLAs, Chandrababu Naidu revealed that he had told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he would only take oath if the seven mandals from Khammam district were merged with Andhra Pradesh. The BRS party is now demanding that the Chief Minister fulfill his promise made in the party’s Lok Sabha election manifesto to bring back five gram panchayats into Telangana.

BRS senior leader B Suman highlighted that in addition to the seven mandals, the Lower Siler power project had also been given to Andhra Pradesh. The party’s MPs had raised this issue in Parliament and organized a bandh after coming into power in Telangana. Suman criticized CM Revanth Reddy and stated that he is following the directions of his mentor Chandrababu Naidu, bringing in an officer who previously worked as the chief secretary of Andhra Pradesh.

The Congress party had also pledged to bring back five gram panchayats into Telangana during the Lok Sabha elections. These gram panchayats include Yatapaka, Kannaigudem, Purushottapatnam, and Gundala Picchukalapadu.
