Popular actress and former MLA Jayasudha has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She joined the party in Delhi in the presence of BJP National General Secretary and Telangana State President Kishan Reddy, among others. Tarun Chugh welcomed her into the party. Chugh mentioned that Jayasudha was impressed by the progress made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the past nine years.
Jayasudha is known for her work in various languages, including Telugu, and has a strong fan following. She has received many Nandi awards and Filmfare awards, establishing a good reputation in the film industry. She served as an MLA from 2009 to 2014.
Kishan Reddy highlighted Jayasudha’s five-decade-long career as an actress and mentioned that her joining the BJP would bring more enthusiasm to the party. He also praised her efforts in working for the welfare of the poor and the development of slums during her time as an MLA. Reddy expressed the desire for democratic rule to replace family rule, corrupt rule, and dictatorial rule in Telangana.
Jayasudha, also known as Jayasudha Kapoor, is not only a renowned artist but also a politician. She represented the Secunderabad constituency in undivided Andhra Pradesh when YS Rajasekhara Reddy was the Chief Minister. In 2009 Assembly elections, she defeated former minister Talasani Srinivasa Yadav. Jayasudha has been a supporter of late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy, who invited her to join politics.
Born as Sujatha Nidudavolu, Jayasudha comes from a prestigious literary background. With a career spanning five decades, she has worked in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi films. She has received numerous awards for her acting, including state Nandi awards and Filmfare South awards. Jayasudha has also been recognized with the ANR National Award and the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award – South. She served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly from the Secunderabad constituency during 2009-2014.
In addition to her successful acting career, Jayasudha has produced seven films. She is married to Nitin Kapoor, a producer and cousin of Jeetendra, and they have two sons.
Although Jayasudha campaigned for the Telugu Desam Party in 1996, she did not directly enter politics at that time. She later joined the Congress Party and contested in the 2009 Assembly elections. Afterward, she joined the YSR Congress Party. Speculations arose when she recently met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and now she has officially joined the BJP in New Delhi.
