The BJP leaders in Jogulamba Gadwal district have urged the state government to establish a new agricultural college in the region. BJP district president Ramachandra Reddy pointed out that while Telangana already has eight agricultural colleges and plans to set up three more in Nizamabad, Suryapet, and Kodangal, no such initiative has been considered for Jogulamba Gadwal. This is concerning because nearly 80% of the district’s population depends on agriculture for their livelihood.
Speaking to the media, Ramachandra Reddy criticized both the previous BRS government and the current administration for neglecting the district’s agricultural needs. He explained that Jogulamba Gadwal is situated between the Krishna and Tungabhadra rivers, making it a fertile region ideal for large-scale farming. Additionally, with two national highways passing through the district, high-quality seeds produced here can be easily transported to other states.
The BJP leader further highlighted that Jogulamba Gadwal is one of the largest producers of cotton seeds in the country, supplying over 50% of India’s cotton seeds. He stressed that an agricultural college in the district would greatly benefit local farmers. It would provide access to high-quality seeds, research on advanced farming techniques, modern agricultural equipment, and organic farming practices. Farmers would also have direct contact with agricultural scientists for guidance on pest control and best farming methods.
Considering these factors, the BJP district unit has strongly urged the state government to approve the establishment of an agricultural college in Jogulamba Gadwal.
The press conference was attended by several BJP leaders, including district general secretaries DK Snigdha Reddy and Ravi Kumar Ekbote, along with senior leaders Bandala Venkata Ramulu, Deva Das, Mirjapuram Venkateshwara Reddy, Chenugonipalli Srinu, Ganja Sai, Raju, Pradeep, and others.
