BJP Leader Demands Immediate Appointment of District Panchayat Officer
Gadwal: BJP Jogulamba Gadwal district president S. Ramachandra Reddy has urged the government to appoint a District Panchayat Officer (DPO) without delay.
Speaking at a press conference in Ajiya town on Wednesday, he pointed out that the previous DPO was suspended 15 days ago due to corruption charges. Since then, the position has remained vacant, causing development projects in 240 gram panchayats to come to a standstill.
Reddy highlighted that the tenure of Gram Panchayat governing bodies ended 14 months ago. Since then, panchayat secretaries have been managing responsibilities. However, without a DPO, they are unable to approve and process bills related to development work.
He expressed concern that the absence of a DPO has severely impacted sanitation and drinking water supply in many villages. With summer approaching, the water shortage in the district is becoming worse.
Due to the lack of a district officer, mandal officials and panchayat secretaries are unable to clear pending bills, halting crucial development activities. Reddy urged the district Collector to take immediate action and appoint a new DPO to address these urgent issues.
Several BJP leaders attended the meeting, including State Kisan Morcha executive member Medikonda Bhim Sen Rao, town president Kampati Bhagat Reddy, and leaders KR Ashok, Laxman Goud, Laxmana Achari, and Raghu.
