Hyderabad: BJP ST Morcha State General Secretary, Ravi Nayak Nenavat, announced that the Morcha will hold a protest march in Venkatapur. The march will take place at 9 AM on Saturday in Mulugu and will be led by the Morcha’s state president, Dr. Kalyan Nayak.
On Friday, Ravi Nayak said the protest is being held to oppose illegal business activities happening in tribal areas. He accused state ministers of supporting these illegal activities, particularly in the district of Minister Seethakka.
Nayak shared the story of a farmer named Nadhu, who lost his maize crop because of fake seeds. Sad and frustrated by the crop failure, Nadhu tried to take his own life by drinking pesticide at the Venkatapuram Mandal centre in Mulugu district.
According to Nayak, several sellers are acting as agents and giving fake maize seeds to tribal farmers. These seeds were planted across 700 to 1,000 acres. While plants grew, they did not produce any maize. When the farmers checked their fields, they found their crops had completely failed.
The BJP ST Morcha wants the government to take action against companies like Simjanta, Hitech, and Momenta, which they say are responsible for selling the fake seeds. The Morcha also plans to visit the families of affected farmers and ask the government to give them compensation for their losses.
