The Telangana BJP has strongly criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for his statements on the Centre’s delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies. The party accused him of making misleading and uninformed remarks on the issue.
BJP spokesperson NV Subhash pointed out that Revanth Reddy had accepted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s invitation to a meeting of southern state leaders without considering key political realities. He also noted that during a recent visit to Delhi, the Chief Minister admitted to financial difficulties in fulfilling electoral promises, which drew criticism.
Subhash countered Revanth Reddy’s claim that the BJP has no presence in the southern states. He reminded that the party is part of the ruling coalition in Andhra Pradesh with N. Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP. Additionally, the BJP won two MLC seats from the Graduates’ constituency, secured eight MP seats in the last Lok Sabha elections, and serves as the main opposition in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
He further stated that the BJP’s vote share in the southern states has been increasing and even surpassed AIADMK in the last elections. He called Revanth Reddy’s claim about the BJP’s absence in the region misleading.
Regarding delimitation, Subhash rejected allegations that the process would harm southern states. He asserted that states like Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are expected to gain additional parliamentary seats. He also highlighted the Congress’ past alliance with the DMK, which once advocated for a separate Dravidian nation, calling it a contradiction in their current stance.
Subhash warned that the Congress government in Telangana is already facing strong anti-incumbency sentiments. He claimed that the BJP is steadily gaining ground and will emerge as a strong alternative in the next Assembly elections. He challenged Revanth Reddy to focus on fulfilling electoral promises and prepare for the upcoming GHMC elections, where the BJP is ready to present a tough fight.
