Hyderabad: A day after Union Minister of Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy criticized Rahul Gandhi on farm sector issues, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Dr. K Laxman attacked the Congress for politicizing the Union Budget 2024-25.

Dr. Laxman stated on Tuesday that the Congress is trying to show that the Central Government is unfair by allocating large funds only to Andhra Pradesh and Bihar. However, opposition parties from Andhra Pradesh have questioned the Centre for not giving enough funds to their state. Similarly, senior Congress MP Mallikarjun Kharge accused the Centre of favoring only Andhra Pradesh and Bihar. Congress MPs from Bihar, on the other hand, complained that their state did not receive sufficient funds.

In Telangana, Congress leaders and the state government have also claimed that the Union Budget discriminates against Telangana. They even passed a resolution in the State Assembly to express this concern.

Despite these accusations, the Telangana State Budget for 2024-25 includes an estimated Rs 70,000 crore from the Centre through tax devolution, grants, and other sources. Dr. Laxman pointed out that this reveals the double standards of the Congress, which falsely projects that not naming states in the Budget means they are deprived of allocations.

Furthermore, Dr. Laxman noted that the Telangana State Budget for 2024-25 specifically mentions only two or three districts. He questioned whether this implies the State Budget has neglected the entire state, highlighting the flawed logic in Congress’s accusations.
