BJP state president and Union tourism minister G Kishan Reddy accused the BRS government led by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of implementing policies that are harmful to farmers. He claimed that under their rule, farming has become unprofitable. Reddy made these remarks during a public meeting held in Khammam as part of the rythu gosa- BJP barosa campaign.
According to Reddy, the BRS government has withdrawn several subsidies for agriculture, including input subsidy, crop insurance, and agricultural instruments on subsidy. He also pointed out that many farmers have not received loan waivers yet. Reddy criticized the introduction of the dharani portal by the government, stating that it has caused distress to over 20 lakh farmers and has even led to some suicides. Additionally, he mentioned that farmers have not received adequate assistance for crop damage and have not been paid the promised 25 paise interest on crop loans for the past nine years.
Reddy blamed the BRS government’s policies for the high number of farmer suicides in the state. He accused the government of turning Telangana into a hub for fake seeds and alleged that projects have become centers for corruption benefiting the Kalvakuntla family. He assured the public that if BJP comes to power, all these problems, including farmer suicides, will be resolved. He also criticized the Congress and BRS parties, labeling them as family-oriented and corrupt.
In conclusion, Reddy promised that if BJP takes charge, they will address all issues faced by farmers, including subsidies. He also claimed that the Congress and BRS parties are essentially the same and suggested that if divided into two parties, they would ultimately join the MIM party.
