The BJP candidate, Katipalli Venkatramna Reddy, has achieved a unique distinction in the Telangana State Assembly elections. He defeated the current Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, and the TPCC chief who was expected to be the next chief minister of Telangana. The fight in Kamareddy was very close, with tense moments for all three parties.

In the initial rounds of counting, the TPCC chief and the BRS chief had a margin of less than 2,000 votes between them. But as the counting progressed, Venkatramana Reddy gained ground and surpassed both Reventh Reddy and CM KCR. In the end, he pushed the TPCC chief to third place and defeated CM KCR by a margin of 5,156 votes.
