Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy has criticized Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and his government over the farm loan waiver scheme. He accused the CM of presenting misleading information and creating confusion regarding the amount of farm loans waived.

Kishan Reddy demanded that the CM provide clear details to farmers about the loan waivers. He called the government’s loan waiver program a “fake promise” and claimed that it was deceiving farmers by manipulating numbers. According to Reddy, the government has a habit of giving false promises.

The Union Minister referred to the Congress party’s earlier promise made in the Warangal Rythu Declaration. The Congress had pledged to waive all farmers’ loans immediately after coming to power. However, Reddy pointed out that after 224 days, only half of the loans had been waived.

Reddy further questioned the figures provided by the CM. He mentioned that, on August 26, the CM claimed Rs 31,000 crore had been waived in eight months. But in a recent letter to Prime Minister Modi, the CM stated that only Rs 17,000 crore of farm loans had been waived. Reddy asked, “Where did the remaining Rs 14,000 crore go?”

He also questioned why the loan waiver for more than 16 lakh farmers had not yet been implemented. Reddy accused the Congress of breaking its election promise, which initially included waiving loans for all farmers but was later changed to only one person per family.

Reddy demanded that the CM clarify how many farmers in Telangana have taken loans and how many loans under Rs 2 lakh have been waived. He alleged that the government had not even waived a third of what it claimed, adding that the farmers and the public were being misled with incorrect figures.

In addition, BJP leader A. Maheshwar Reddy addressed the CM’s letter to PM Modi. He wrote an open letter to the CM, asking 13 questions about the loan waiver scheme and challenging him to an open discussion on the issue.
