Telangana BJP Releases Charge Sheet Against Congress Government
The Telangana BJP has released a detailed charge sheet criticizing the Congress government, which is nearing its one-year anniversary in power on December 7. The document, unveiled by Union Minister for Coal and Mines and Telangana BJP chief G. Kishan Reddy, focuses on unfulfilled promises and alleged failures of the Congress administration.
The charge sheet, titled “Six Lies and 66 Frauds,” accuses the Congress of betraying the trust of the Telangana people. Kishan Reddy stated that the Congress had promised significant change and made grand commitments to secure votes but has failed to deliver on its electoral promises even after a year in office.
According to Reddy, Congress had guaranteed six major promises to be fulfilled within 100 days of taking power and pledged to meet other goals outlined in its election manifesto within a year. Despite distributing a signed letter from Congress MP Sonia Gandhi to every household in Telangana, the party has not fulfilled even one of the 66 promises it made, he alleged.
Reddy further criticized the Congress for following a similar approach to the BRS government, which was voted out for being “anti-people” and “dictatorial.” He accused Congress of suppressing dissent through illegal arrests and police force. He also highlighted the government’s failures, saying the promises of “good governance” and “Indiramma Rajyam” have turned out to be hollow.
One of the key issues raised was the alleged misuse of land acquisition laws to seize poor farmers’ lands and demolish homes under the guise of HYDRA, a project aimed at rejuvenating the Musi River. Reddy also alleged that the government has neglected unemployed youth and job seekers while incidents of food poisoning in Gurukul and government schools have increased.
The BJP charge sheet outlined various failures, including unkept promises to farmers, youth, women, pensioners, and auto drivers. It pointed out that no progress has been made in building Indiramma houses for the poor, and essential measures like addressing land grabbing or distributing white ration cards have not been implemented.
Reddy also criticized the government for neglecting its employees, noting that pending dearness allowances (DAs) have not been released. Promised salary hikes for Anganwadi teachers remain unfulfilled, and unemployed individuals have not received the attention they were promised.
The BJP chief accused the Congress of backstabbing marginalized communities, including OBCs, EBCs, STs, and SCs. He highlighted other lapses, such as failing to waive penalties on property and house taxes in municipalities and panchayats, and neglecting to strengthen local bodies as per the 73rd and 74th Constitutional amendments.
Reddy underscored the deterioration of law and order, poor financial management, and the state’s growing debt burden as key issues under the Congress government. He further criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for prioritizing political matters in Delhi over addressing the state’s problems, claiming the CM has made 29 trips to Delhi in 11 months.
In conclusion, the Telangana BJP’s charge sheet painted a grim picture of the Congress government’s performance, describing it as a disappointment to every section of society and accusing it of inflicting more damage in one year than the BRS did in a decade.
