Athletes Encouraged to Shine from Villages to International Arenas in Bhupalapalli
In Bhupalapalli, District Collector Rahul Sharma and SP Kiran Khare emphasized the need for athletes to rise from the village level to the international stage, bringing pride to the district. Both officials highlighted the importance of nurturing local talent during the inauguration of the CM Cup sports competitions.
The CM Cup sports competitions were officially launched on Monday at the Dr. BR Ambedkar Sports Ground under the supervision of the District Youth Services Department. As part of the inauguration, pigeons were released into the sky to symbolize hope and aspirations.
District Collector Rahul Sharma encouraged students to balance sports with academics, noting that sports not only improve physical health but also provide mental relaxation. He explained that the state government has been organizing CM Cup sports competitions at the village level since November 27 to identify and support talented athletes. Winners from the village and mandal levels are now participating in district-level competitions, which are being held from December 16 to December 20 across various sports categories.
The CM Cup aims to identify athletes with the potential to compete at national and international levels. Winners at the district level will advance to state-level competitions. Speaking at the event, SP Kiran Khare highlighted the benefits of sports, stating that they keep individuals active and also enhance academic performance. He encouraged participants to focus on the experience of competing, regardless of winning or losing, and congratulated those who had progressed to the district level.
SP Kiran Khare further urged athletes to perform their best at the state level and bring recognition to the district. He praised their dedication and wished them success in their sporting journey.
The event was attended by several prominent officials, including Additional Collector of Local Bodies Vijayalakshmi, District Sports Officer Raghu, DEO Rajender, DPRO Srinivas, Sports and Games Association president and secretary, CI Naresh Kumar, SI Sudhakar, and a large number of athletes. Their presence underscored the importance of supporting local talent and fostering a culture of sportsmanship in the district.
