Hyderabad: State Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has invited Japanese companies to establish fuel cell industries in Telangana.
During his three-day visit to Japan, Bhatti led an official delegation to Toshiba’s headquarters. There, he discussed the possibility of setting up fuel cell divisions in the state with the company’s leaders.
Toshiba’s senior executives, including Hiroshi Kaneta from Energy Systems and Solutions and Vice President Shige Rizo Kawahara, gave a presentation about Toshiba’s products and services. While Toshiba is known for its electronics, the company is now a leader in green technologies. They shared details about their work in solar power, fuel cells, battery energy storage, powerful generators, and zero-carbon emission technologies.
Bhatti Vikramarka highlighted that Telangana is planning to install large-scale solar plants. These projects will need a large number of photovoltaic modules, and he encouraged Toshiba to collaborate by setting up units in the state. He also mentioned that fuel cell technology would be important for “Future City” projects in Telangana.
The Deputy Chief Minister added that Telangana requires modern generators, energy-saving technologies, and electric vehicle batteries. He urged Toshiba to explore investment opportunities in these areas to help the state become an electronics hub, especially in the field of green electric vehicles for “Future City.”
Bhatti also spoke about transitioning the state’s public buses to electric vehicles soon. He mentioned that Toshiba’s expertise could be crucial in this shift. Furthermore, Singareni, a major company in the state, plans to expand into mining other minerals like lithium, and since Toshiba is a leader in lithium battery production, a potential collaboration could be beneficial.
