Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka Urges Faster Work on Bhadradri Thermal Power Plant
Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu has directed Genco officials to speed up the pending work at the Bhadradri Thermal Power Plant (BTPS). On Sunday, he reviewed the progress of the plant’s development with Genco officials at Praja Bhavan.
The Energy Minister asked the officials to set deadlines for BHEL to complete electrical, civil, and mechanical work as per the agreement. He emphasized that the work should progress according to the schedule. Chief Engineer P.V. Srinivas informed the Deputy CM that a tender had been issued for repairing a burnt generator transformer, and the process was ongoing. Additionally, a spare transformer was being purchased to ensure uninterrupted power generation in case of future issues.
Bhatti Vikramarka instructed officials to keep extra stocks of electrical and mechanical equipment ready for emergencies. He also proposed forming a three-member committee consisting of the Director, Chief Engineer, and another official. This committee will be responsible for quickly restoring power generation in case of technical issues at Genco’s plants. The committee will also review all technical problems, submit reports to the Board, and get approval to speed up restoration work to prevent losses.
The Deputy CM also inquired about several other pending issues. He asked about the works delayed by BHEL, the functioning of BTPS, the construction of sheds for coal storage during the rainy season, railway lines for coal transport from Singareni mines to BTPS, and the progress of staff quarters construction.
