Work to Speed Up De-silting of Bhadrakali Lake

Officials in Warangal are making efforts to clean and restore Bhadrakali Lake. On Wednesday, Hanumakonda District Collector P. The two collectors reviewed the progress of the de-silting project along with officials from the irrigation, revenue, and Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) departments. The goal is to restore the lake to its full capacity by removing silt and other waste materials.

Collector Pravinya instructed officials to prepare a detailed cost estimate for the de-silting process. She also asked the Revenue Divisional Officers (RDOs) to identify suitable locations for dumping the silt and to hold meetings with locals who are interested in using the silt for other purposes.

The plan proposed by officials to remove 3 lakh cubic meters of silt was approved by the collector. Several key officials, including RDOs Rathod Ramesh and Satyapal Reddy, Irrigation Chief Engineer Ashok Kumar, SE Venkateshwarlu, KUDA Project Officer E. Ajith Reddy, and others, were present during the inspection.

The government has taken this initiative to transform Bhadrakali Lake into a freshwater reservoir. The lake, which had become filled with silt, solid waste, and water hyacinth, is being emptied and cleaned. The process of draining the lake began on November 8, marking the start of its restoration journey.
