    The delayed South West Monsoon has led to less rainfall in Ranga Reddy district this month. The district received 217.3 mm of rain so far, including 120.3 mm this month. Last year, the district had 307.7 mm of rain in July. This means there is a -17.9% variation in rainfall this month compared to last year.

    Out of the 27 mandals in the district, 14 received normal rainfall, 10 had excess rainfall, and three had a deficit. The three mandals with less rain are Gandipet, Rajendranagar, and Shamshabad, which are in the Rajendranagar Assembly constituency.

    Mandals that recorded normal showers include Balapur, Saroornagar, Abdullapur, Ibrahimpatnam, Manchal, Yacharam, Kadthal, Kandukur, Maheshwaram, Moinabad, Chevella, Shabad, Kothur, and Farooqnagar.

    Ten mandals received more rain than usual. These are Shankarpally, Serilingampally, Hayathnagar, Madgul, Amangal, Talakondapally, Keshampet, Nandigama, Kondurg, and Chowderguda. Shankerpally had moderate rainfall of 15.6 mm, while the other mandals received light rainfall between 0.1 mm and 15.5 mm.

    Over the past five years, the district experienced heavy rain only in 2020–21 and July 2022–23 with 288.3 mm and 346.1 mm of rain respectively.

    The two main drinking water resources—Osmansagar and Himayatsagar—are waiting for fresh inflows from the catchment areas as of Sunday. According to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, both reservoirs have not received new inflows due to delays in sufficient rain.

    The water level in Osmansagar is at 1779.25 ft (1.863 tmcft) compared to its full capacity of 1790 ft (3.900 tmcft). Himayatsagar’s storage capacity is at 1755.60 ft (1.688 tmcft) against its full capacity of 1763.50 ft (2.970 tmcft). Officials reported no fresh inflows in the reservoirs on Sunday.
