BC Samaj Criticizes Telangana Government Over Caste Survey
The BC Samaj has strongly criticized the caste survey conducted by the Congress government in Telangana, calling it flawed and inaccurate. Leaders of the BC Samaj, including United Mahabubnagar District President M. Srinivas Sagar, accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of deliberately lowering the recorded BC population to benefit the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) reservations for upper castes.
Speaking at the BC Samaj office, Srinivas Sagar alleged that the government had intentionally reported lower BC population figures. He demanded that CM Revanth Reddy conduct a proper review and release the full statistics. He questioned how the BC population, which was earlier recorded at 52%, had suddenly dropped to 46% in the latest survey, while the TRS government’s family survey had shown an increase in OBC numbers.
Srinivas Sagar also compared Telangana’s caste enumeration with Bihar’s, pointing out that in Bihar, the Chief Minister held 26 review meetings with officials. However, in Telangana, CM Revanth Reddy has not conducted even a single review meeting. He criticized the Congress government for its lack of transparency in the process.
The BC Samaj leader warned that the community would continue to fight until their fair share in political power was ensured. He accused the Congress of making false promises to the BC community before elections and then reducing their population count by 21 lakh in the survey, calling it a deliberate conspiracy.
Sagar further claimed that the government had manipulated caste data to lower BC numbers while inflating upper-caste figures. He urged BC MLAs from all parties to come together and hold the Congress government accountable for the discrepancies in the caste enumeration.
BC Samaj leaders also warned that they would oppose any attempt to implement 42% reservations without first conducting local body elections. Sagar criticized the government for delaying a fair caste enumeration, which the BC community had been waiting for over a year.
He emphasized that an accurate caste survey is essential for securing political, economic, social, educational, and governmental benefits for the BC community. He also cautioned the government against making politically motivated decisions, stating that any manipulation of BC population data would face strong resistance.
Srinivas Sagar pointed out inconsistencies between Rahul Gandhi’s statements in Delhi and the caste survey results in Telangana, saying they did not align. He warned that if the government continued to manipulate the figures, the BC community would not hesitate to fight back.
Several prominent BC leaders attended the event, including Buganna, District President of the Kummari Association; Ashwini Satyam, Town President of the Nai Brahmin Seva Sangh; Sadurl Chandramohan, President of the Nai Brahmin Economic Committee; Ashanna Mudiraj, District President of the BC Journalists Association; B. Shekhar, BC Samaj Devarakadra Constituency Convenor; and Vishwanatham, BC Samaj Mahabubnagar Co-Convenor. Others such as Sukumar, Padmashali Association Leader, and BC Samaj members Y. Raghu, Gopal, Sai, and Ramulu Nayak were also present.
