In Pedamunagala village in Khammam district, women expressed their dissatisfaction during a saree distribution program. They were unhappy with the low-quality Bathukamma sarees they received and threw them away. Around 30 women participated in the event.
The village Sarpanch, P Srinivas, had initiated the saree distribution program. However, the women rejected the sarees, claiming that they had been receiving poor quality garments for the past three years. They believed that these sarees were not suitable for wearing.
Some women expressed their frustration by questioning whether the Chief Minister’s family members would ever wear such sarees. They called on the government to take action and stated that poor women had been treated unfairly by receiving subpar sarees for three years.
Sarpanch P Srinivas acknowledged the women’s anger and dissatisfaction. He mentioned that they had suggested providing monetary assistance instead of distributing low-quality sarees. Srinivas also confirmed that the concerns about the saree quality had been communicated to higher officials.
